In a closely contested election, Giwa Balogun Demilade, a 100-level student of Industrial and Production Engineering, has emerged as the winner of the CBN Lecture Theatre Governorship election. Giwa secured 224 votes, narrowly defeating his opponents Ghazal Humaam Adebayo by just seven votes and Olasemeji Barnabas by 32 votes.
The election stood out as one of the most keenly contested, with all three candidates engaging in robust and energetic campaigning. However, the students’ clear choice was Giwa, whose campaign struck a chord with the electorate, earning him the desired position despite strong competition. The student electorate’s choice of Giwa for the desired position is a testament to the power of student leadership and democracy.
