UCJ-UI HOLDS TRAINING FOR TESA AND FASSA CAMPUS JOURNALISTS

On Friday, 12 July 2024, the Union of Campus Journalists held a one-day training session with campus journalists from the Faculty of Technology (TESA) and Faculty of Science (FASSA). The programme was held at the Kola Daisi Lecture Theatre (KDLT), Computer Science department in the Faculty of Science.

The evening began with a short opening address from the Editor-in-chief, UCJ-UI, Tijani Abdulkabir. He spoke on the areas that the training would cover and introduced the first speaker.

Peter Adeyemo, Deputy Editor-in-Chief, UIMSA Press, spoke on the nitty-gritty of campus journalists’ writing explorative features articles. Then the Ransome Kuti Hall Press Editor-in-chief, Edem Barnabas, spoke extensively on the concept of investigative journalism. Finally, Abdulkabir returned to speak on the fundamentals of news reporting.

The meeting ended with the UCJ president, Tosanwunmi Tarre, addressing the campus journalists. She appreciated them for the time and effort they took in attending the training programme. On this note, the programme was brought to a close.
